YOUR SYDNEY CONSULTATION

Here’s how breast augmentation Sydney works at MINKST:

Step 1: Get your initial quote – Complete a quick online form and we’ll send you a personalised, all-inclusive quote. No phone call required, no strings attached.

Step 2: Talk it through – Our team is available to answer every question – whether it’s about implant types, what recovery actually looks like, or how the pricing breaks down. Take as long as you need.

Step 3: Meet your doctor – When you’re confident you want to explore surgery, book a face-to-face consultation at your nearest Sydney location. The fee is fully refundable within 48 hours if you decide it’s not for you.

How to prepare for your consultation

Your consultation is with your doctor directly – not a sales coordinator or patient liaison. To get the most out of your appointment, here’s what we suggest:

  • Think about your goals beforehand – What do you want to change? Do you have a cup size or look in mind? Reference photos on your phone can help your doctor understand what you’re after
  • Wear something easy to change out of – Your doctor will need to examine your chest, so a button-up top or loose-fitting shirt is ideal
  • Write down your questions – Whether it’s about scarring, implant feel, recovery time, or how results look over the years, no question is off limits
  • Bring a support person if you’d like – A partner, friend, or family member is welcome to sit in on the appointment
  • Be ready to try implant sizers – You’ll hold different implant sizes against your body to get a physical sense of volume and proportion
  • Allow 30-45 minutes – There’s no rush and no expectation to make a decision on the day

During the appointment, your doctor will assess your anatomy, explain the implant options that suit your frame, and walk you through the surgical approach including placement, incision, and risks. If you’d like, you can also see a preview of potential results using our 3D simulator.

Prefer to start from home? Virtual consultations are available for Sydney patients who’d like an initial conversation before coming in.

BREAST IMPLANT OPTIONS

Breast implant surgery involves some decisions. You don’t need to have all the answers before your consultation – your MINKST doctor will guide you through each one – but understanding the basics can help you feel more prepared. For a detailed walkthrough, read: How to Choose the Right Breast Implant, Shape and Size.

Decision 1: Implant shape and size

This is typically the decision patients think about most. Round implants are by far the most popular in Australia and add fullness across the whole breast, particularly the upper pole. Teardrop (anatomical) implants are shaped to slope naturally from a thinner top to a fuller base – these can suit patients starting with very little breast tissue who want a subtle outcome. Size is measured in cubic centimetres (cc), not cup sizes, and your doctor will use implant sizers during your consultation so you can physically compare options on your body. See real results: What Looks Can You Achieve With Breast Implants?

Decision 2: Where the implant goes

Your implant can sit under the chest muscle (submuscular), over the muscle but behind breast tissue (subglandular), or partially under both (dual plane). Each position affects how the result looks, how recovery feels, and how visible the implant edges are. Submuscular placement adds an extra layer of coverage and tends to look more natural with less tissue, while subglandular can mean a quicker recovery. Your doctor will recommend a position based on your tissue thickness and desired look. Read more about implant placement here.

Decision 3: Implant surface and profile

Surface refers to whether the implant shell is smooth or textured. Smooth implants are always round and move naturally within the pocket. Textured implants grip the surrounding tissue to stay oriented – essential for teardrop shapes. Profile refers to how far forward the implant projects from your chest. Low profile = wider and flatter. High profile = more projection from a narrower base. These are technical decisions your doctor will recommend based on your chest width and anatomy.

Decision 4: Silicone or saline fill

Almost all breast augmentations in Australia now use cohesive silicone gel, which closely mimics the feel of natural breast tissue and maintains its shape even if the outer shell is compromised. Saline implants remain available but are uncommon. Watch our short video comparing silicone and saline.

Decision 5: Incision and brand

The standard incision for breast augmentation is in the inframammary fold (the crease under the breast). This provides the best surgical access and typically leaves a well-hidden scar. MINKST uses TGA-approved brands including Mentor (USA), Motiva (Costa Rica), and Polytech (Germany), all with lifetime rupture replacement warranties. According to MINKST Medical Director Dr Daniel Fleming, who has published extensively on breast implant outcomes, there is no compelling evidence that any single TGA-approved brand outperforms another. The right brand for you depends on the specific size, shape, and characteristics your doctor recommends for your body. Read more about breast implant brands.

BREAST AUGMENTATION SYDNEY PRICING & WHAT'S INCLUDED

How much does breast augmentation cost in Sydney?

Most Sydney clinics won’t publish a price – you have to attend a consultation just to find out what you’d be paying, and it often doesn’t include what you pay the hospital and anaesthetist.

MINKST does things differently. Our breast augmentation pricing starts from $6,990 all inclusive, and you can get a personalised indicative quote before you decide to book a consultation.

We aim to be as transparent as possible with our pricing. Based on your photos and our experience, we’ll give you an indicative quote that for most patients ends up being the same as their final quote. It’s important to understand this quote may increase or decrease after your consultation – only your doctor can confirm the final price once the details of your surgery have been agreed. You can then decide whether to go ahead.

The quote includes:

Your doctor’s fee, hospital and anaesthetist at an accredited Sydney facility (Sydney Day Hospital, The Sydney Private Hospital, Waratah Private Hospital, or Kingsgrove Day Hospital), TGA-approved implants, all standard post-operative appointments, lifetime follow-up care, and access to the MINKST Patient Portal. No add-ons or surcharges on the day.

This pricing applies to first-time (primary) breast augmentation. Had previous implant surgery? Visit our breast revision page.

There is a fee to book your consultation, but it’s fully refundable within 48 hours – no catches or loopholes. Here’s how it works.

YOUR SURGERY DAY IN SYDNEY

Where will my surgery be performed?

MINKST partners with accredited hospitals across Sydney which include:

  • Sydney Day Hospital
  • The Sydney Private Hospital
  • Waratah Private Hospital
  • Kingsgrove Day Hospital

Your specific hospital will be confirmed when your surgery is booked. All are fully accredited, licensed facilities staffed by experienced anaesthetists and nursing teams.

What happens on the day?

Breast augmentation is a day procedure performed under general anaesthetic. You’ll arrive at your scheduled time, and your doctor will check in with you to confirm the plan before you go into theatre. The surgery itself usually takes around one hour. Afterwards, you’ll spend time in recovery while the nursing staff monitor you. Once you’re comfortable and cleared to leave, a responsible adult will need to drive you home and stay with you overnight.

The whole process – from arriving at the hospital to heading home – is typically half a day. MINKST uses our MINKST Recovery Technique to help minimise your downtime.

Coming from outside Sydney? Book accommodation near your hospital for at least the first night. Our Sydney recovery guide covers practical details like nearby accommodation, food delivery options, and what to pack. You can also watch our short video about travelling to Sydney for surgery.

LIFETIME FOLLOW-UP CARE

Every breast augmentation at MINKST includes lifetime follow-up care – meaning your relationship with us doesn’t end once you’ve recovered.

What does lifetime follow-up actually mean?

Beyond your standard post-operative appointments, you’ll have access to ongoing follow up for as long as you have your implants. Breast implants are not permanent devices – they may need to be monitored, and eventually replaced, over the course of your life.

If you ever have a concern about your implants down the track, MINKST is here.

RECOVERY & RISKS

Recovery

Every patient recovers differently, and your doctor will provide specific post-operative instructions tailored to your procedure. Our MINKST Recovery Technique is designed to help minimise your downtime.

In general, most patients take around a week off work and can return to light activities within 2-4 weeks. By around 3 months, implants will have settled into their final position and most patients can resume all normal activities including exercise.

If you’re travelling to Sydney for your procedure, our Sydney recovery guide covers accommodation, food delivery, and practical tips for your stay.

Risks

Breast augmentation, like any surgical procedure, carries certain risks that individuals should be aware of before making a decision.

Common risks associated with breast augmentation include infection, bleeding, adverse reaction to anaesthesia, scarring, changes in nipple or breast sensation, asymmetry, dissatisfaction with the aesthetic outcome, and the need for future revision surgeries. Complications specific to breast implants, such as rupture, rippling, or capsular contracture (scar tissue formation around the implant) are also possible. Recent news has highlighted a potential association between textured breast implants and Anaplastic Large-Cell Lymphoma (ALCL).

It is crucial to consult with an appropriately qualified doctor, thoroughly discuss all the potential risks, and carefully weigh the benefits against the risks to make an informed decision.

It’s the kind of information that used to only come out in a consultation room.

BREAST AUGMENTATION SYDNEY FAQs

How much does breast augmentation (boob job) cost in Sydney?
From $6,990 all inclusive at MINKST Sydney. The Price includes your doctor, hospital, anaesthetist, TGA-approved implants, MINKST Patient Portal and lifetime follow-up care – no hidden fees. You can get a personalised indicative quote online before you decide to book a consultation.

Where is MINKST’s Sydney located?

Procedures are performed at accredited Sydney facilities including Sydney Day Hospital, The Sydney Private Hospital, Waratah Private Hospital, and Kingsgrove Day Hospital. Your allocated hospital will be confirmed with your surgical booking.

Can I start with a virtual consultation?
Yes. Virtual consultations are available for Sydney patients who’d prefer an initial conversation from home. An in-person appointment with your doctor is still required before surgery can proceed.

I’m travelling from regional NSW – what should I plan for?
We recommend arranging accommodation near your hospital for at least the night of surgery – you’ll need a responsible adult to take you home and stay with you overnight. Our team can help with logistics, and our Sydney recovery guide covers accommodation, food delivery, and recovery tips. It’s important not to book anything until your surgery plan is confirmed!

Why is MINKST’s pricing lower than other Sydney clinics?
MINKST operates efficiently by working with multiple accredited hospital partners and experienced doctors at cosmetic surgery across Australia. We pass those efficiencies on to patients. Our pricing is all-inclusive with no hidden fees – the same quality implants, hospitals, and care, without the premium price tag.

Will breast augmentation affect breastfeeding?
Having breast implants – whether above or below the muscle – does not typically prevent breastfeeding. That said, every person’s anatomy is different. If breastfeeding is important to you, let your doctor know during your consultation so you can have a discussion and make an informed decision.

How long do breast implants last?
There’s no fixed expiry date, but breast implants are not designed to last forever. Many patients go 10-20 years before revision surgery becomes necessary – usually because of cosmetic changes, capsular contracture, or implant wear.

Are breast implants safe?
When performed by an appropriately qualified doctor using TGA-approved implants, breast augmentation is considered a safe procedure. Like all surgery, it carries risks – your doctor will explain these in full at your consultation so you can make an informed decision. A detailed list of risks is provided in the Recovery & Risks section above.

Is breast augmentation covered by Medicare or private health insurance?
No. As a cosmetic procedure, breast augmentation is not eligible for Medicare rebates or private health insurance claims. For information on payment plans and financing, see our payment options page.
