The MINKST Rapid Recovery Technique

Have you been considering breast surgery for some time now but worrying you can’t find the time for the recovery? MINKST Rapid Recovery Technique allows most patients the ability to return to many of their normal duties within 48 hours of breast implant surgery! (BTW normal duties do NOT include gym, sports or lifting heavy items.)

Our very own MINKST Medical Director, Dr Daniel Fleming, introduced the Rapid Recovery Technique to Australia 15 years ago and has personally used this technique successfully on thousands of patients.

Let’s get technical….

The MINKST Rapid Recovery Technique is based on an article published by Dr John Tebbets, a Texas Plastic Surgeon. Using special operating instruments and techniques, the Rapid Recovery Technique is a method of dissection of the implant pocket that aims to reduce blood loss to only a few mls per side.  This can then reduce post-operative inflammation and therefore pain.

General anaesthesia ensures the patient sleeps and can also relax the pectoral muscles. A dry operating field is always the surgeon’s goal so a local anaesthetic is only used for the skin incision.

Special bras, strapping or garments are not routinely needed and there are no restrictions on putting your arms above your head. In fact, we get you to do this before you leave the hospital.

Minimising pain and discomfort means less postoperative medication is required which also contributes to a faster recovery.

While no patients can be promised a 48 hour recovery time, many experience this and a typical patient can go shopping, out to dinner, or drive a car short distances within 48 hours, sometimes less. Additionally, surveys of patients have shown approximately 50% only need paracetamol to manage any discomfort.
