Tummy Tuck Abdominoplasty

Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne and Cairns

What is tummy tuck surgery?
A tummy tuck also known as abdominoplasty, removes excess skin, fat and can tighten abdominal muscles. The results will change the shape and tone of the abdomen to create a firmer and smoother profile. Many patients who have lost weight through lifestyle changes, pregnancy or age find the results of a tummy tuck to be life changing.

An abdominoplasty can range in techniques depending on what is required for you. A mini abdominoplasty (mini tummy tuck) for minor skin sagging, through to a 360 degree belt lipectomy which removes the loose skin and fat around your waistline. Your surgeon will personalise a surgery plan to complement your body type and your personal aesthetic goals.

TUMMY TUCK RISKS

Tummy tuck, like any surgical procedure, carries certain risks that individuals should be aware of before making a decision.

The main risks associated with tummy tuck include infection, bleeding, scarring, wound healing complications, changes in skin sensation, fluid accumulation, seroma formation, asymmetry, contour irregularities, blood clots, anaesthesia-related complications, and the need for revision surgeries.

There is also a risk of developing visible or raised scars, especially in individuals with a history of poor scar healing.

It is important to consult with an appropriately qualified surgeon, thoroughly discuss all the potential risks, and carefully weigh the benefits against the risks to make an informed decision.

FAQ's

What is a mini tummy tuck?
A mini tummy tuck, or partial abdominoplasty, is a cosmetic surgery targeting the lower abdomen. It’s less invasive than a full tummy tuck, focusing only below the belly button, with smaller incisions and quicker recovery. It’s not suitable for all candidates looking to have a abdominoplasty so talk to our MINKST doctor / surgeon to find out which procedure is best suitable to address your concerns.

Will a tummy tuck remove my stretch marks?
A tummy tuck can remove stretch marks on the lower abdomen that are included in the skin removed during the surgery. However, it may not eliminate all stretch marks, especially those beyond the incision lines or on areas of skin that remain after the surgery. The degree of improvement also varies from person to person. Consult with our MINKST doctor / surgeon to understand how a tummy tuck can impact your stretch marks and overall appearance.

What’s the difference between a tummy tuck and liposuction?
A tummy tuck removes excess skin and tightens abdominal muscles, addressing skin and muscle laxity, while liposuction targets and removes localised fat deposits. Both procedures improve abdominal contour but focus on different aspects: skin and muscle for a tummy tuck, and fat for liposuction. Read ‘Do I need a Tummy Tuck or Liposuction?’.
