A tummy tuck also known as abdominoplasty, removes excess skin, fat and can tighten abdominal muscles. The results will change the shape and tone of the abdomen to create a firmer and smoother profile. Many patients who have lost weight through lifestyle changes, pregnancy or age find the results of a tummy tuck to be life changing.
An abdominoplasty can range in techniques depending on what is required for you. A mini abdominoplasty for minor skin sagging, through to a 360 degree belt lipectomy. Your surgeon will personalise a surgery plan to complement your body type and your personal aesthetic goals.

Pre Surgery Consultation with your surgeon
At this consultation your surgeon will listen to what you want to achieve and develop with you a personalised operation plan including:
Surgery Day
Your procedure will be performed under general anaesthetic in an accredited, licensed hospital. The surgery itself takes between 2 – 6 hours depending on the type of procedures you require. You will spend typically a couple of hours under close supervision in the recovery area before being discharged. In most cases you will require an overnight stay at the hospital. You will need a responsible adult to take you home and stay with you for the first night.
Post Surgery
You will have your surgeon’s mobile phone number in case you need them and the support staff will regularly be in touch to ensure everything is running smoothly. You will arrange your first post operative check up with your surgeon for review.
Why choose MINKST for your surgery?
Every patient is different but generally Tummy Tuck patients do not experience too much pain during their recovery. Medication will be prescribed in case you need it. The first 3-5 days can be the most challenging with moving around and holding your posture. It is important to have plenty of support.
Approximately 2-3 weeks after surgery most patients can return to work. If you have a physical job you may need longer.
During the first few weeks some swelling and bruising will be present whilst the tissue is healing. This initially feels quite firm but gradually softens over time.
MINKST offers tummy tuck surgery in various locations throughout Australia, including major cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, and more.
We also offer our services in regional areas across the country.
Tummy tuck, like any surgical procedure, carries certain risks that individuals should be aware of before making a decision.
The main risks associated with tummy tuck include infection, bleeding, scarring, wound healing complications, changes in skin sensation, fluid accumulation, seroma formation, asymmetry, contour irregularities, blood clots, anaesthesia-related complications, and the need for revision surgeries.
There is also a risk of developing visible or raised scars, especially in individuals with a history of poor scar healing.
It is important to consult with an appropriately qualified surgeon, thoroughly discuss all the potential risks, and carefully weigh the benefits against the risks to make an informed decision.
