1. Request your free quote – Submit a quick form to receive your personalised, all-inclusive pricing along with information about your doctor and payment options. Takes less than 30 seconds, no obligation.

2. Speak with our team – We’ll discuss your goals, pricing, implant options, and what to expect so you can make an informed decision at your own pace.

3. Book your consultation when you’re ready – Meet your doctor at Miami Private Hospital on the Gold Coast. Your consultation fee is 100% refundable within 48 hours if you decide not to proceed.

What happens at your consultation

You’ll meet directly with your doctor – not a sales coordinator or nurse – to develop a personalised surgical plan. During this appointment, your doctor will:

  • Listen to what you want to achieve and understand your expectations
  • Assess your chest anatomy, existing breast tissue, and skin quality
  • Walk you through implant options – shape, size, profile, surface, and brand
  • Let you try on different implant sizers so you can get a feel for what you like
  • Explain the surgical approach, including incision placement and implant positioning (above or below the muscle, or dual plane)
  • Discuss all risks openly so you can make a fully informed decision

We encourage you to bring a support person and come prepared with questions – there is no rush, and no pressure to proceed on the day.

Travelling to the Gold Coast? Virtual consultations are available if you’re coming from regional Queensland, interstate or overseas – so you can meet your doctor before booking flights. An in-person consultation at Miami Private Hospital will be required before surgery.

BREAST IMPLANT OPTIONS

Picking the right breast implant is an important part of your augmentation journey. At your Gold Coast consultation your MINKST doctor will walk through each option with you and you’ll decide together what suits you best – but here’s a summary of what’s on the table. For a full deep-dive, read our blog: How to Choose the Right Breast Implant, Shape and Size.

Silicone gel vs saline implants

Almost all breast augmentations performed in Australia today use cohesive silicone gel implants. They feel closer to natural breast tissue than saline, are less prone to visible rippling, and hold their shape even if the outer shell is damaged. Saline implants remain available but are rarely chosen these days. Your doctor will recommend what works best for your anatomy and the result you’re after. Watch our video comparing silicone and saline implants.

Round vs anatomical (teardrop) implants

Round implants are the most popular choice and tend to give more fullness in the upper part of the breast, which can create more visible cleavage. Teardrop (anatomical) implants are shaped to resemble the natural slope of the breast – thinner at the top, fuller at the base – and may be a good fit for patients with very little existing breast tissue who want a softer, more natural shape. Shape choice comes down to your body, chest width, and the look you’re aiming for. See how each looks in practice in our blog: What Looks Can You Achieve With Breast Implants?

Implant surface – smooth vs textured

Smooth implants move freely within the pocket and are often a good choice for thinner patients because they can reduce rippling. All smooth implants are round. Textured implants have a roughened surface designed to adhere in place, reducing the risk of complications from implant slippage. The shape of a textured implant may be round or teardrop, but teardrop implants are always textured to minimise movement. Your doctor will recommend the right surface based on the implant shape and your individual anatomy.

Implant profiles

An implant’s profile is how far it projects forward from your chest wall – sometimes described simply as “how much it sticks out”. Profiles range from low through to extra-high projection. Higher profiles create more forward projection on a narrower base, while lower profiles produce a softer, wider look. The right profile depends on your chest measurements, how much breast tissue you already have, and the result you want. At your consultation you can try on different profiles using implant sizers.

Implant placement

Implant placement describes where the implant sits relative to your muscle, breast tissue, and skin. There are three main options:

  • Under the muscle (submuscular): The implant sits behind the pectoral muscle and breast tissue. This can look more natural – especially for patients with less breast tissue – because the muscle adds an extra layer of coverage over the implant.
  • Over the muscle (subglandular): The implant sits in front of the pectoral muscle and behind the breast tissue. This may work well for patients with more existing breast tissue and can mean a quicker recovery.
  • Dual plane: The implant sits partly behind and partly in front of the pectoral muscle, drawing on the advantages of both approaches.

Each option has trade-offs. Your MINKST doctor will suggest the right placement for your body and the outcome you’re after. Learn more about implant placement options here.

Incision placement

Most breast augmentations use an inframammary incision – the natural crease below the breast. This gives the doctor the clearest view and the most control during surgery, and the scar usually settles in a well-hidden spot. Other incision sites exist (around the areola, or in the armpit) but are used far less often. Your doctor will talk you through the pros and cons of each at your consultation.

Implant brands

MINKST works with a range of TGA-approved breast implant brands, including Mentor (USA), Motiva (Costa Rica), and Polytech (Germany). Your doctor will recommend the brand that matches the size, shape, and characteristics best suited to your anatomy.

As MINKST Medical Director Dr Daniel Fleming has pointed out, the performance and safety of the TGA-approved implants currently available in Australia is broadly comparable – and claims that one brand is clearly superior to another aren’t supported by the long-term evidence. Read more about breast implant brands here.

Every implant used by MINKST is registered with the Australian Breast Device Registry (ABDR), a national quality assurance program that tracks long-term safety outcomes for breast devices across Australia.

RECOVERY & RISKS

Recovery

Recovery typically involves 1-2 weeks of downtime, with most patients returning to work within a week. A return to exercise and strenuous activities usually takes around 4-6 weeks, with implants settling into their final position over 3 months or so. Our MINKST Recovery Technique is designed to help you get back to your routine as quickly and comfortably as possible. Read more about breast augmentation recovery here.

Recovery on the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is a well set-up place to recover. The mild climate means you can get outside for gentle foreshore walks along Burleigh, Miami and North Burleigh when your doctor gives you the go-ahead. Serviced apartments in Broadbeach and Miami are well positioned for the first week or two, and meal delivery services across the coast can take the daily admin off your plate while you rest. Direct sun on fresh incisions should be avoided during healing – keep them covered and use high-SPF sunscreen once cleared by your doctor, and hold off on swimming in the ocean or pools until you have the green light.

For a full guide to Gold Coast recovery – accommodation, wellness activities, meal delivery, and gentle walks – read Gold Coast: A Top Choice for Cosmetic Surgery & Recovery.

Risks

Breast augmentation, like any surgical procedure, carries certain risks that individuals should be aware of before making a decision.

Common risks associated with breast augmentation include infection, bleeding, adverse reaction to anaesthesia, scarring, changes in nipple or breast sensation, asymmetry, dissatisfaction with the aesthetic outcome, and the need for future revision surgeries. Complications specific to breast implants, such as rupture, rippling, or capsular contracture (scar tissue formation around the implant) are also possible. Recent news has highlighted a potential association between textured breast implants and Anaplastic Large-Cell Lymphoma (ALCL).

It is crucial to consult with an appropriately qualified doctor, thoroughly discuss all the potential risks, and carefully weigh the benefits against the risks to make an informed decision.

BREAST AUGMENTATION GOLD COAST FAQs

How much does a breast augmentation (boob job) cost on the Gold Coast?

Breast augmentation at MINKST Gold Coast starts from $7,990 all inclusive. This covers your doctor, hospital and anaesthetist fees, TGA-approved breast implants, and lifetime follow-up care. Your personalised quote will be finalised at your consultation. MINKST aims to provide transparent, all-inclusive pricing with no hidden costs.

Where is breast augmentation surgery performed on the Gold Coast?

Consultations, surgery and follow-up appointments all take place at Miami Private Hospital, 24 Hillcrest Parade, Miami QLD 4220 – a boutique, three-theatre facility licensed by Queensland Health and accredited to ISO:9001 and the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards. It’s located in the beachside suburb of Miami, just 20 minutes from Gold Coast Airport (Coolangatta).

I’m flying in for surgery – when can I travel home?

Most patients can fly home from Gold Coast Airport around 5–7 days after breast augmentation surgery, though this varies by individual. You’ll need to stay on the Gold Coast for your initial post-op review before travelling. Short-haul flights within Australia are generally tolerated well by this point; if you’re travelling longer distances, discuss timing with your doctor at your consultation. Longer-term follow-ups can often be coordinated remotely, with an in-person review back at Miami Private Hospital if anything needs closer attention.

How soon after surgery can I swim or go to the beach?

We understand you’re on the Gold Coast – but incisions need time to heal. Most doctors advise avoiding swimming in the ocean, pools or spas for around 4–6 weeks after breast augmentation, until incisions are fully closed and cleared by your doctor. Gentle walks along the foreshore are usually fine once you’re feeling up to it, but direct sun on fresh scars should be avoided during healing, and high-SPF sunscreen is recommended once your doctor gives the go-ahead. Your doctor will give you specific guidance at your post-op appointments.
