Pre-Surgery Consultation

During this consultation, your MINKST doctor will discuss your goals and develop a personalised surgical plan, considering factors such as:

• Reduction of labia minora and/or labia majora
• Symmetry and aesthetic preferences
• Functional concerns such as irritation or discomfort
• Incision techniques and anaesthesia options

Surgery Day

Labiaplasty is typically performed as a day procedure under general anaesthesia in conjunction with another procedure, in an accredited, licensed hospital. Surgery generally takes 1–2 hours.

Following the procedure, you’ll be monitored before discharge. You’ll need a responsible adult to accompany you home and stay with you for the first 24 hours.

Recovery
Most patients experience 1–2 weeks of downtime. Swelling and discomfort are common initially but typically subside within the first week. Full recovery can take 4–6 weeks, with most patients returning to work or light activity within 7–10 days. Sexual activity and strenuous exercise should be avoided for 4–6 weeks or as directed by your doctor.

What is labiaplasty and who is a good candidate?
Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure to reduce or reshape the labia minora and/or labia majora. Ideal candidates are women experiencing discomfort during exercise, intimacy, or when wearing tight clothing, or those who are unhappy with the appearance of their labia. Candidates should be in good general health and have realistic expectations.

How long does labiaplasty recovery take?
Most patients return to work and light daily activities within 1–2 weeks. Swelling may take several weeks to fully resolve. Full healing and return to sexual activity generally take about 4–6 weeks.

Are labiaplasty results permanent?
Yes, results are typically permanent. However, natural aging, childbirth, or weight fluctuations may subtly alter the appearance over time.

Will there be visible scars?
The incisions are carefully placed and closed with dissolvable sutures. While some minor scarring is possible, it is typically well hidden within the natural folds of the vulva and fades significantly over time.
